About fatcork:

Fatcork is a boutique Champagne club, bottle shop and tasting room partnering with the region’s top growers to import the best Champagne from small, independent producers in France. From our headquarters in Seattle, we sell directly to consumers all over the U.S. via our website, quarterly club and tasting room. We’re Champagne enthusiasts, but we’re also a tight-knit, family-run business that values joy, creativity and hard work.

Saturday Tasting Room & Celebration Specialist

Position description:

As part of our tasting room and special events team, this role will assist with weekly Saturday tastings and special events that we host throughout the year. We imagine this person working closely with our lead tasting room and celebration specialist and our general manager to take our guests through guided tastings based on educational themes. This person will also participate in-house events as needed. We’re excited for this position to round out our small, dedicated team and to grow with the company. For the right person, this is a dream job with full-time potential. 

General responsibilities: 

  • Tasting room and event operations
  • Opening and closing duties
  • Retail sales 
  • Assisting with club allocation pick-up orders
  • Pouring Champagne at tastings and other events
  • Helping customers pick out the perfect bottles
  • Processing customer orders
  • Promoting our Champagne club and email list sign-ups
  • Helping fulfill Champagne orders (e.g., preparing and packing club shipments, communicating with customers and packing boxes)
  • Performing general office and warehouse tasks as needed (e.g., talking on the phone, cleaning and tidying up)

Position requirements:

  • A positive attitude — Nothing is more important to us than this.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • At least two years of customer-service or sales experience with references
  • Proven workplace-based evidence of professionalism, flexibility, punctuality and a friendly, easy-going, good-natured disposition
  • The ability to repeatedly lift cases of Champagne (sometimes over your head) that weigh up to 50 pounds
  • Computer proficiency
  • Some basic wine knowledge — This is the least important quality on our list.

Schedule, compensation and benefits:

  • This position reports to fatcork general manager Iza Feyeux.
  • This is a part-time, hourly position with the expectation of working Saturdays, noon-6:30 p.m. 
  • This position receives two complimentary bottles of fatcork Champagne every month as well as opportunities to buy Champagne at wholesale cost.
